More About Me!
Artistic Manifesto
I am one of those weird kids who always knew what they wanted to be when they grew up. Unlike most kids, I never had a veterinarian phase or wished to be the tooth fairy. For as long as I can remember whenever someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I would answer by saying a performer! I grew up as a competitive dancer. Dance has always been my priority. Then when I was 9 years old I saw my first Broadway show, “Chicago.” The actor playing Roxie came down from the stage during her show-stopping number “Roxie” to talk to me. She asked me what I was doing here and how could my parents let me see this risque show at such a young age. After I answered I said, “I am 9 and I am a dancer, I came to see dancing!” Afterward, Roxie continued to perform the whole show to little me sitting in the third row. At the end of the performance, she gave me a prop rose. From that moment, I knew I wanted to be on stage. I want to inspire the next generation of artists in the same way that Roxie inspired me.
As the youngest daughter to two park rangers, I grew up traveling the world, learning about different cultures, and having a deep appreciation for nature. My parents are so kind and always supported my art! Everyone in my family went into science but being the stubborn youngest child, I wanted to be different.
I believe that theatre is important because it allows us to connect with each other in a deeply human way. It allows us to experience empathy, to understand and feel the experiences of others, and to create a shared sense of community. Through theatre, we can explore our own identities and the identities of others, confront our fears and prejudices, and challenge the status quo. I hope to inspire, advocate, and entertain as many people as I can. “In dreams, we plant the seeds of our future.”
